Start the new year off on the right foot and get your skin glowing by leaving these bad skincare habits behind in 2021.

Another year has flown by and is almost over. Whether you believe in the power of New Year’s resolutions or not, it’s never too late to make beneficial life choices. Challenge yourself to change some of your bad skincare habits (hey, we all have them!) for a glowing complexion in 2022 and beyond.

Here are six to ditch and leave behind in 2021.

Not taking a hands-off approach. Constantly touching your face or picking your skin aids in the transfer of bacteria. This can lead to lead to breakouts, blemishes, or, in some cases, infection. Keep your hands clean and off your face as far as possible.

Not wearing sunscreen daily. One of the worst skincare habits most of us are guilty of is skipping the sunscreen. Not only should you be wearing it daily throughout the year, but reapplying it every couple of hours to ensure it keeps your skin protected.

Not drinking enough water. Staying hydrated isn’t just important for your overall health and wellness. Not getting enough can have an impact on your skin in how it looks and feels. Make 2022 the year to invest in a water bottle for on-the-go sipping.

Not maintaining a balanced diet. While eating the occasional bar of candy won’t break you out, having a poor diet might. Make sure you are eating *mostly* nutritious food and balanced meals. As they say, beauty starts from the inside!

Not making good lifestyle choices. Some bad skincare habits are directly linked to our lifestyles. Smoking and drinking are addictive and come with serious health consequences, as well as premature signs of aging, discoloration, and dull, uneven skin.

Not making sleep a priority. According to the Sleep Foundation, 35% of American adults get less than seven hours of shut-eye each night. This is bad for your health and your complexion, which can become dry and develop fine lines.
